Typhoon Noru has caused dozens of flights and train services to be cancelled on Japan's south-western island of Shikoku and the southern Kinki region, local authorities confirmed Monday.

The storm, the fifth typhoon of the season, is threatening to hit western Japan on Monday, with weather authorities warning of mudslides, flooding, strong winds and high waves in the region.
It is on course to hit Osaka and surrounding areas, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
As of 10 am (0100 GMT), the eye of the storm was near Cape Muroto on Shikoku, 600 kilometres south-west of Tokyo, travelling north-east at 20 kilometres per hour. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 108 kilometres per hour, the agency said.
The powerful typhoon also affected Japan's southern islands on Saturday, killing two people, broadcaster NHK reported.
A month ago, heavy rain lashed the island of Kyushu and triggered flooding and mudslides in the prefectures of Oita and Fukuoka, leaving 36 dead and five missing.
Taiwanese airlines have cancelled flights due to the storm. The China Airlines cancelled flights CI156, CI157, CI159, CI172 and CI173 between Taiwanese cities and Osaka for Monday. Flight CI113 from Hiroshima to Taipei was also cancelled.
EVA Airways cancelled flight BR132 and BR178 from Taipei to Osaka and flight BR182 from Kaohsiung to Osaka. The airline also canceled Taiwan-bound flights BR131 and BR177 from Osaka to Taipei and BR181 departing from Osaka for Kaohsiung.
Tiger Air cancelled Taipei - Osaka flights IT210 and IT211 as well as Kaohsiung - Osaka flights IT284 and IT285.
